Stargazing 8: Balance

$100.00

This painting is the culmination of everything I've learned over the course of creating this outer space series. I employed all the techniques I had developed along the way: a value underpainting, thin layers of color with glazing medium, dry-brushed white paint for glowing areas. I also incorporated a new tool: the everyday kitchen sponge. Using the rough side to apply thin layers of paint created these fine tendrils in the clouds, too fine to create with a brush. Alternating between the sponge and a brush allowed me to achieve a balance between crisp details and soft glowing edges, which is what I had been striving for during the entire series. Comes with a handmade thank-you card and a certificate of authenticity.

Easel and frame are for display only and are not included by default. However, anyone who purchases one of the 8 Stargazing paintings will receive a follow-up email with links to pre-order an easel or frame so I know how many to order, but this is entirely optional. I had the frame custom made by Michael's, using the Plein Air White Frame. The easel is also from Michael's. Plein Air White Frame by Michael's
